The
Expansion Project
Bible Center Church has purchased the historically important, Homewood AME Zion Church (founded in 1871) to house a world-class, hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) education center for children called "The Maker's Clubhouse." The building is ideally located adjacent to Faison K-5.
The expanded Maker's Clubhouse will also provide a community-based venue for teachers' STEM professional development and a space for children and parents to experience the joy of shared hands-on, applied science education or simply known as "making.”
Preschool
Bible Center Church values education and has been engaged in education focused programming in the community of Homewood since 1956. Launching a high-quality preschool program in Homewood is our next education-focused initiative.
Decades of research have empirically demonstrated the benefit of high-quality early childhood education programs for children’s short and long-term academic, socio-emotional and economic outcomes. Unfortunately, African American children often lack access to these programs.
Our end goal is to create pre-school that embraces and celebrates equity for all children, but most specifically illustrate the potential within African American children and holds their academic and self-esteem intact while they are developing as learners and leaders.
