From the very first delivery of 123 meals on April 16, 2020 until today, our food distribution team has personally delivered over 208,000 thousand meals here in Pittsburgh.
As we get ready for our last delivery on Friday, September 3rd we wanted to take a minute to thank them for their service and dedication.
How it All Started
We heard a need from the parents of our awesome kids in the Maker's Clubhouse after school program. With the onset of the pandemic, getting meals became especially challenging.
We believe healthy meals are an important part of a healthy life (it's one of the reasons The Oasis Project includes programs like a shared commercial kitchen and an urban farm and garden), and we were blessed to get to work with some amazing partners and individuals in the area. We're grateful for our Maker's Clubhouse parents who identified and shared the need with us.
What Happened
At the beginning of Summer 2021, the count of delivered meals stood at 118,574. They had also delivered nearly 37,000 diapers! Since that time, our amazing volunteers have added on another 90,000 meals and additional diapers as well.
